Theresa Lynn

President & Founder, Clarity at Work Ltd.

Theresa Lynn is the founder of Clarity at Work, an HR strategy and AI governance advisory practice based in Central Alberta and working with mid-sized organizations across Alberta and Saskatchewan. She spent roughly 17 years at TELUS in general manager and strategic programs director roles, covering government relations, public policy, Indigenous relations, corporate philanthropy, HR, and a large-scale HRIS remediation that taught her more about how systems fail people than any framework ever did. That mix is a big part of why she does what she does now. AI questions land on somebody’s desk in HR or operations long before anyone gets around to writing a policy, and the companies she works with usually sit between 50 and 300 employees, which means there’s no chief AI officer and no in-house legal team waiting to catch what falls through. Her work is mostly practical. She runs AI governance engagements and workshops for organizations that have just discovered their teams are already using tools nobody approved, and she helps leadership sort out what to do about it without shutting the whole thing down. Her anchor client is a real estate brokerage where she’s partway through a nine-part AI training series, and she’s spent the past year in rooms with small business owners, boards, and executive teams who are willing to be honest about what they don’t know yet. She holds the SHRM-SCP and the SHRM AI+HI Specialty Credential, is a PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI, and completed executive leadership training at Oxford & MIT. She also serves on the board of Horse Racing Alberta, where she chairs the Regulatory and Licensing Committee, which is a steady reminder that governance is never as tidy in practice as it looks on a slide. Her take on AI anxiety is that it’s usually well-founded and pointed at the wrong thing. People worry about the technology getting smarter while their own organization adopts it faster than anyone can say who’s accountable when it goes sideways. That’s where she works, and she’s got a story for every lesson.
